How true, Tom.  The effect of allowing (excess) drive to move the 
screen and/or control grid operating point is much like allowing 
modulation to move the voltage applied to the synthesizer (VFO) 
of the exciter ... 

Of course such simple concepts are beyone the comprehension of 
some people.
