I do have more failures (when the bulbs are identical wattage) with
switches that are flipped off an on less frequently.
I do have a dimmer that goes through bulbs like crazy.
But when I listen to the bulbs with the dimmer on, I can hear the
long, unsupported, multiple turn filaments vibrating from the
sawtooth waveforms pulse.
I 'm only guessing, but I suspect the late night vibrations have a
lot to do with the life problems of the bulbs on the dimmer.
When we test something, we always have to be careful we only change
one parameter at a time.
