If you are talking about linear service, Robert, it can be done with a 
triode whose Mu is 5 or less, operated in Class AB1.  However, an 
extraordinary amount of drive voltage is required--which is difficult to 
produce above a few hundred kilohertz.  .......  This subject was 
recently discussed on [AMPS], so you may be able to find it in the [AMPS] 
archive.
