It's goofy enough that it's been used in a fair number of professional tx's
over the years - with success.
One variant I've seen that worked in a PA running a pair of paralleled
4-250A's and covering 1.6 to 22MHz continuous used a solenid abt 1 inch
diameter 3 inches ling wound with about #22, a 470pF high current ceramic
capacitor to ground, and a 2 section universal wound choke of abt 1mH, wound
on a 3/4 fibreglass tube, followed by a .01mFd ceramic cap to ground at the
B+ end.
By the way, the chokes were at right angles.
