The plate choke in my 1 X 3-500Z homemade, (cookbook type, no creativity
of my part involved), amp is a B&W 800, or very similar according to
pictures in older cataloges.
The grid dip indicates (shyly), resonance at 23.4 Mhz.
On 15 meters I noticed a higher Ip and lower Ig compared to other bands.
Also the plate color gets brighter (too bright if you ask me), easier
than on other bands. My Bird indicates 600 W out with 26 watts of drive.
That is over 13db amplification for a 3-500Z. That doesn´t happen on
other bands.
Is there any relation between the fact that the choke resonates only 5
percent above the freq in use and the different behavior on 15 ?
Thanks
