I've found soap suds and warm water pretty efficacious, but keep them out of
transformers, unless they're hermetically sealed types. Then wash in clean
water, and dry out in the airing cupboard - my XYL will move clothes (even
hers!) to make room for radio quite happily, but I realise that doesn't
apply to all.

Another good drying place (if it will fit in there)  is the kitchen oven.
This has the advantage that you can set it to 105C and bake it - provided
there's no nasty plastic bits to melt. If there are, limit the temp to abt
70C.
