Anybody who needs convincing needs to sit down with CAPMAN, ASAPS progation
software and do some analysis. It is clear that power combined with a good
antenna is the best combination. The milatary has known this for years.
Systems like ALE(automatic link establishment) relies on this quite heavily.
That is if the antenna is not good enough, power has to be used to improve
the circuit. Thats why Rockwells station in Cedar Rapids
which has 20 acres of antennas has power amplifiers upto 10kw, of coarse as
anyone knows after 10kw it is very difficult to achieve substantial economic
and technical power gain.
