Just a comment on the bleeder thread... er... string
I employ a series-parallel configuration in my amplifier power supply.
The individual resistors are run at about 25% of their ratings. In the
unlikely event that one of the resistors operated so conservatively
should fail (open), the second string will still provide a safety bleed.
Also, in my particular application, wherein I source my screen supply
from the low end of the bleed, a failure would be indicated by a screen
regulation fault.
