Hey John and All,

When I was in board test at Mackay communications one of my
duties was setting up the half octave filter boards that went in all
the 8000 series transmitters and transceivers. After setting them up
with a vector z meter, I then had to put 100 watts through them at
various frequencies and meaure the results.

I would need just a little more pressure to move a winding and
my finger would slide just a bit too far down the back of the board!
It was about gauranteed that I would try to tweak a coil and get an RF
burn on the first one I would test out of each batch, after that I
would take the time to turn off the amp each time.

I'm surprised I don't have a hole in my index finger where
that same little chunk of flesh got burned every few months. I guess
I'm lucky I left before they finished the 10 kW system.

                                        Regards,

                                        George (KQ4QM)
