      The plates on my 4 by ones are sort a´ yellow/white when
      I operate, maybe something ain´t right.
      Seriously, 4-250´s or 4-400A´s or 4-1000 tubes glow very
      nice.

4-1000A.  Has a BEAUTIFUL filament glow and when keyed the plates turn  
a  
nice shade of orange to bright orange as they get hotter.

The holy light of the 4-1000A is a wonderful sight to behold!
