You can tell if you're running them too hard - the wax tends to run out!

Typically, a 1000pF disc with  3/8 inch leads is resonant around 35MHz.
A 0.1 microfarad foil and film type  with 1/2 inch leads comes out around 3
to 4MHz, depending on type.

It's still surprises me  (maybe it wouldn't Rich) at the number of
professinals who use capacitors at 2GHz that are far too big - like 1000pF,
so the board track resonates it way down  below 500MHz.
