Comparing the instanteous power handling capabilities of a resistor by using a cw dit to simulate a parasitic oscillation is specious at best! And cw dit however short it may seem to some still more closely approximates a steady state condition rather than an instanteous spike of an amplifier breaking into parasitic oscillation. Ever see a lightning rod when it takes a direct strike? The strike is instanteous but the rod glows redhot for several minutes. 73s Bob -- FAQ on WWW: http://www.contesting.com/ampsfaq.html Submissions: amps@contesting.com Administrative requests: amps-REQUEST@contesting.com Problems: owner-amps@contesting.com Search: http://www.contesting.com/km9p/search.htm |
