Of course it is specious!  I'll admit that.

But the fact is that parts just don't instantaneously blow up due to a
transient event.  That is my whole point.  Rich's events are nearly step
functions.

Actually I've not and don't care to actually witness it either!  But a
lightning bolt is of far higher energy than that produced by a tube at VHF.

Anyhow, this argument is beginning to go way away from its original intent.
