AL80A. 160m=3DQRTHello,=20
=20
I had the same problem with the NEW AL-572 with the full size SWR =
1.2 antenna on 160m. The reason is that the mentioned capasitor is weak =
! I just put the bigger (mechanically and electrically) Russian =
capasitor and the PA has been working just fine ever since !

Hi guys,=20
I just bought an AL80A.=20
All bands are working well at exception of 160m.=20
After a quick inspection I founded the reason why:=20
The additionnal Plate capacitor (C15 170pF doorknob) is broken and the =
contacts of the rotating connector S1C (both) are completely molten and =
distroyed. =20
I dont know the reason of the failure.=20
-Is it due to high VSWR at antenna port?=20
-Is it due to bad band selection (the previous owner tried to =
tune the AL80A with the 160m bandswitch selection on an other frequency =
band?
-Is it due to default in conception of the AL80A?=20
-Any other idea to explain is welcome=20
I'm looking for any part for their replacement.=20
I'll be in Greensborro (NC) for my job in october the 17th and 18th, =
is it possible to find the two broken parts around=20
-170pF N750, 850 series doorknob (AR-559)=20
-a bandswitch or only one wheel (AR-136-2)=20
If any store for amps is around there, please let me know.=20
If not, do you have any other adress to propose?=20
