Silver is typically used to help improve loss characteristics, but as others
have said, silver doesn't do much at HF.  On VHF/UHF and above, it makes a
big difference.

The heat is just losses in the coil.  1.5 KW on 10m is a lot of energy.
Think of how hot your 1.5 KW hair dryer gets.  There is some loss in the
coil and that is turned into heat.

You could probably make a new coil out of bigger tubing, but it would still
probably get hot.  If you are really concerned about it, put a fan on the
outside of your case to blow air over the coil.  But it's probably designed
with getting hot in mind.  So no worries.
