A friend recently purchased a new, HF amplifier at Ham Radio Outlet. Two
HRO employees cautioned the buyer that since this amplifier uses no VHF
parasitic suppressor on the 8877 tube, it might be a good idea to install
one. After c. 1/2 hour of operation, the tube apparently failed. Close
inspection revealed that the bandswitch had an arc-mark.
Caveat emptor.
cheers
