Hi Kevin,

Why not switch to a transistorised amp?
There a couple on the market in that power range you like to have.
Since 1982 I use my Icom IC-2KL and never had any problem.
Power is nominell 500W, 600W are adjustable and still will cause 
no trouble.
With this experience I bought a second one used in 1999 for
contesting SO2R.
