The 3cx1200A7 is supposedly on Eimac's to-be-discontinued list. Their
new 3cx1200Z7 is clearly a superior bottle - unless one is trying to
build a 1500w VHF oscillator.

He wants to know about the likely continued **availability**

They're very available now, and cheap due to their supply.
The 3CX1200 series is (A7, U7, Z7) are much more limited in
market, and I'd hope they don't go the way of the 4CX1600B.
It was also designed primarily for the Amateur market,
and is now essentially unavailable just 5-10 years later.

There are lots of 8877 out there, by virtue of their long
production, and their use in commercial/industrial
applications. At least one other brand than Eimac is
available (Taylor?). I've heard that Eimac has contracted
out the production of 8877 to China?
There it is again, the "information" that Eimac has contracted out

production of 8877 to China.
I have an email from marketing director in Eimac that the never ever
have
produced any 8877 in China and there is no plans to do so either.
The history behind this started when a local Svetlana distributor
claimed
that Eimac had stopped production of all the small tubes, that is the
typical tubes for radio amateurs. He could also sell me 8877 produced
on
licence from Eimac in China. The 8877 was no longer produced by Eimac
in
USA.I was not shure this was correct, so I contacted Eimac. They could
tell
a different story and was quite upset by the "information" I had
received.
All the tubes in the Eimac website are in production, including 8877.
