I believe the guy in question is Mark Mandelkern, was KN5S now K5AM  I did a
search on the ARRL members database to obtain this information. He wrote a
number of articles on amplifier topics(17 cited) but I could not tell from
the titles which is the one needed. I will let someone else finish the job,
