Right. If I had to manually generate the 6kW necessary to power my 3K-A, I'm sure I'd either be
in really good shape or using an FT-817.

When I was a young whippersnapper, I could steadily produce about 0.3hp for 15min -- which = 220w. In short bursts, I could do a bit over 1hp, or 746W. This is a long way from 6kW.

Is this not the "Amps" reflector??? :-)

AMPS come in all sizes.

AM is a waste of electric power, and bandwidth. What next, spark

Van de Graff generators.

If Hams had to physically generate their own power via cranking or pedalling a generator, 100w pep SSB would be high power -- and nobody in their right mind would be sweatily cranking out a - useless as tits on a boar hog - AM carrier.
