Hector,

Making sure everything is RF tight and all grounds and shields are good is the most important thing. A dip meter could be used to find RF leaks run as an absorbative wavemeter. This is similar to using a radiation detector for microwave ovens, which may be another thing to check in the home. I know of one operator who lined an entire room, floor, ceiling, and four walls, with 1/4" mesh wire cloth to cancel any RF radiation from the radio room. Good quality coax with 95-98% shield is a good idea too, along with good direct grounds to the equipment.
