Josh, The ALS-600 is an OK amp- no tune, solid-state, hard to destroy, relatively lightweight and it works pretty well. It would seem to fit your requirements quite well. The AL-811 or 811H are relatively lightweight and would work OK, but the tubes are fragile. And, since Ameritron is still in business, replacement parts for these are readily available, if needed. This is not the case with Dentron, Drake or Amp Supply. If you just can't stand the idea of an Ameritron sullying your DX pedition shack, the Dentron Clipperton L is a pretty good choice. The Acom 1000 is a terrific amp, but at $3000, I wouldn't even consider taking one on a DX pedition, unless it was sponsored an money was no object. 73, Scott, N9AA _______________________________________________ Amps mailing list Amps@contesting.com http://lists.contesting.com/mailman/listinfo/amps |
