Is it at all possible this tube still works?
I see there are 4 bids on it already. Maybe these
people know something.........
How would all the guts tilt like that without the envelope
shattering if it was dropped?
Questions, questions.........
The tube must have been bumped with just the right amount of G-forces to bend
the plate assembly below the stem of the plate going to the plate cap. I have
a similar dilemma with a brand-new 4-1000 tube that was shipped to me. When
it arrived the plate was tilted slightly to one side and I have a before
picture showing it was perfect before it was shipped. Someone here told me
a long
while ago that if you carefully wrap the tube in a blanket or towel and
gingerly
rap it against a semi-hard surface like the edge of a couch you can correct
the tilt of the plate without damaging the tube. I have been afraid to try it
yet. I have a dud 4-1000 I can practice on but I will be a nervous wreck
trying
that on a brand-new 4-1000 tube! 73 Todd WD4NGG
