The 3-1000 is a nice tube that runs 1500 watts at lower voltage than most.
The problem has to do with cost and availability.

Therefore, it is not recommended to build one - unless you have a couple
around that Aunt Martha gave you because she did not need them for awhile.

They used to work fine on 29 mc, so I am sure they will work fine at 29 MHz.

It is a good linear amplifier tube.  No one will know that you are using
this tube.

A few members of this reflector are very conservative and like to run the
legal 1500 watts output with more head room, which is why they use 3-1000 or
4-10,000 tubes.  But, they of course are only running 1500 watts output, and
it is just their nature to not push their equipment.  And, they only run
their supercharged GTO at or under the speed limit, too.
