Hello to Ron and al.
A shortcut instead of completely "rolling your own" from scratch might be
that of contacting Ameritron and obtaining one or more chimneys used in their
Al-800 series amps.
And at the same time, you might be able to purchase the small metal tabs (4 per
tube) that hold the chimney in place around the tube where it sits up above the
chassis. Imo, the above would be a time saver rather than having to do the
tiny things that take up so much time to fabricate.

Subject: [Amps] Need chimney material info
It appears that silicon rubber is the most expeditious way to fabricate
chimneys for the 3cx800A7. Can anyone direct me to a supplier? Thanks,
