To: YV5LIX- Jose The Ameritron AL-1500 is a very good amplifier for it's
price range. The tube is good and has had a bad rap from power hungry
egotist's who tried to drain every last watt they could out the tube by over
driving
it and causing it to fail. It is one of the few Ameritron amps that has grid
protection. Even the AL-1200 does not have grid protection as evidenced by
the ham's who over drove them !! The 1500 is easy to drive because it is a hi-
mu triode with an amplification factor of 200. I would buy one if I were
you, you will like it !! Don't worry about the parasitic suppressors, if it
needed them, they would be there. Their are those out there that will tell you
that you need something because they happen to sell it !! I have several 8877
amps that do not need parasitic suppressors or neutralizing circuits at the
base of the tube, because the 1500 is very stable. G L & 73, Willy K3VW
