I noticed that on some of the old Henry plasma units they used automobile
spark plug wire for HV wire. Not sure if the resistive type plug wires would
be more of a benefit or not to help suppress spikes.

RG-58/U is rated for RF volts.  For DC, it's quite safe at 10,000V --
provided it has a solid dielectric.   My 30kVDC high-pot will not punch
through RG-58U.
