The use of silver polishing paste judiciously through a rebuild
is a good start-off practice that allows the builder to closely
inspect all the various componentry while cleaning.
A tooth brush filled with paste applied to the bandswitch
and all the rest of the tank components works wonders.
Relays are a different issue. Tiny, open-frame jobs need
their contacts cleaned with a matchbook cardboard soaked
with paste, and a cleaning afterward to remove the paste.
In any event, relay cleaning is not an easy task. I ended up
just trashing the little relays and replacing them.
Besides, small vacuum relays have greater reliability
than open frame jobs especially with RF.
