I have maintained some lovely Rolls-Royces,
Bentleys and Jaguars through the years with
wooden dashboards.
One client of mine had a 1934 Rolls ambulance
with a 12-cylinder plant that was completely
enclosed in an aluminum shroud. The interior
of the ambulance was done in wood paneling
with a beautiful dashboard housing great
"industrial-type" guages for a commercial vehicle.
The problem would be where to do the RF grounding for
an amplifier-equipped HF set without destroying the
bodywork.
The control head would just need a Sawzall
and some sheetrock screws to mount (HIHI).
