The Alpha 77DX/SX and others bring up the HV when the a.c. mains switch is
activated. The timers are on the PTT line. Other manufacturers go to a lot
of extra expense and circuitry to withhold the HV for the timer to complete
its cycle. I prefer the Alpha approach. Frank, W3LPL, is the expert on this;
his big contest station once ran several single-band amps with a common
power supply. To be sure, why not contact the engineering dept. of your tube
manufacturer for guidance?
