Hello Ron,
Just forget the tubes for the time beeing !
Remember there is a typical procedure to use an amp with tubes
Just put your drive to 10/20 watts, no more. On the 30L1 just verifie the 
band switch is correctly indexed, CLOSE all variables capacitors (max capa), 
turn on the amp and the drive. Just tune the PLATE cap to dip the plate 
curent, decrease the loading  cap a small bit, return to tune cap and re-dip 
the curent, and so on until the plate curent is at the correct  value. If 
you have and RF output meter, just be sure the plate mini correspond to the 
max HF out. When the power output deos not incease more you can adjust the 
drive level to about 600 watts out. and if  you do not reach this level, at 
this time you can be eventually changing your tubes.
