There are 2 schools of thought on that. I prefer to leave them original. The 
trade off is about 50W.
Ive converted several hundred to 6M over the past almost 40 years and they 
are 100% stable just as Heath designed them.

I have also received several other conversions in here that "blew up" and 
all had grounded grids. And a bunch that didnt survive HF contest use.

And I certainly wouldnt use the AL-82 as a model of stability.
