Contesters love amps and antenna tuners that auto-tune so that we
can QSY and switch bands quickly, but good auto-tune isn't cheap.
For less than what I would pay for one decent used auto-tune legal
limit amp, I own three Titan 425s (total cost about $4,500,
including repairs). Likewise, I own five Ten Tec 229/238 tuners,
total cost about $1,400. :)
So instead of a single station that autotunes quickly, I can put
together three excellent stations working into five pre-tuned
antennas and switch between them (or run SO2R with an amp to spare).
