This is what happened to me with the 
Emtron amp.  RF was getting into
the LED Bargraph department and
the display had no relation to what
the amp was doing.

Antenna Works sells coax line
filters you insert into the input
and output RF lines. This reduces
the amount of RF on the shield.

In one of my bigger amps I use a
90-degree Male/Female UHF
type connector and screw the 
line filter heading straight uphill
from the amp apron, no coax.

However, I found that a 6 foot
run of coax jumper, tightly coiled
and tie-wrapped to take up slack, 
also reduced the noise on the
lines.

When sending rtty on 20m today, I glanced at the display and it had
turned into gibberish....I recycled the OPER button and even turned the
amp off then back on to no avail.
