Hi,

I've done a couple of Gonset transformer replacements. The first one was a
GS101. I bought a transformer from Ameritron for a 811h amplifier. The new
transformer was less than $100.00. I yarded out the old transformer,
choke, filament transformer, filament transformer for the 866 tubes, and the 866
tubes. All said and done the Gonset weighs 35 pounds less than original and
works just as well.
The other one I did was a GS201. I replaced the transformer with a pair of
transformers from a junk CB Maverick amplifier. I ran the transformers in
series and they bolted into the same space as the old transformer. It was an
easier conversion as the 201 had solid state rectifiers.
If you have questions feel free to ask.
