I'm not sure it's fair to say a tetrode circuit is more complicated. True, they
require a screen supply, but most tetrodes can be run without an input coupling
network and its bandswitch. A simple 50 ohm 100 watt resistor from grid to
ground (DC isolated of course) and you're done.
You pays your money and takes your choice.
