The 2KL was only a 500 W amplifier ... Icom moved along to the 4KL
which was a 1 KW amplifier. The 4KL had four amplifier modules vs.
two modules in the 2KL.
The 4KL was replaced by the PW-1 which uses the MRF-150 FET vs. the
2SC2652 bipolar transistor in the 2KL/4KL. The FETs operate at 48V
vs. 13V for the bipolar transistors. The MRF-150 is cleaner and more
efficient than the low voltage transistors. Overall the PW-1 with its
FETs is a much better design than the 2KL/4KL.
