That is not why use pulsed tuning!
A Carrier presents a continuous load and drags the HV down. How much
depends on regulation. So with a carrier you are tuning with lower HV
than with pulsed tuning. My tubes have enough dissipation to handle a
carrier at full bore as did the old 6146's in my tube gear, but HV? the
old rigs had a tune position with a lower voltage. Tune up, switch to
the higher voltage and you still were in tune.
Works just as well for tube amplifiers. You just send a series of dits
using the key and
peak the output. In my opinion then use a 'scope to check linearity of
your amplifier.
But I'm old and no one seems to use 'scopes anymore.
But back to square one, you don't need another box in the shack, just
use your keyer.
Yup. You can even calculate the duty cycle.
