At age 16, my 1500 volt, power supply was sitting atop my desk with no 
protection - 836 tubes exposed.  The back of my hand hit the cap and I was 
flung about 15 feet across the room and crashed into my sliding closet doors 
and knocked them both off their track.  I have gone the next 50 years 
without  repeating that adventure.  I am really glad it was not 3,000 volts.
