Starting with questions, and GOOD RESEARCH is the correct approach
for older radio equipment (transceivers) and HF Linear Amplifiers.

The Alpha 76 Plate Choke (factory) is resonant at 12 meters (and CB).
I have seen a few "good buddies" totally wreck these 76 series amplifiers -- NO
technical knowledge/understanding..

It can be replaced with the Ameritron choke, BUT replacements parts that are
available are rising in price and while the front panel push button mechanisms
are available -- the flagged buttons are not current manufactured.
The 8874 were widely available in 1970s and 1989s due to paging transmitter
industry, the mobile phone business virtually killed that market segment in
1990s.
The 8874 tubes used in the Alpha 76 are still mfg. (Russia, USA) ---
but they are over $350 each NEW.
