Most all amps without fussy shutdown circuits will do that. The problem is when fussy tubes are used and clueless hams don't know how to tune and watch grid or screen current. Using two hands plus watching the meter is beyond the skill set of many.

OTOH the 3-500Z is almost idiot proof.

The thing I like best about my SB-220 is the wide range of impedances that can be matched by the pi-network. Even with displayed SWR over 3:1, tuning and loading still peak fine.

Are there any modern amps that are comparably forgiving?
