All the currently manufactured high-end amps I am aware of use ceramic
tubes (or transistors). Also food for thought.
I will grant you the 3-500Z family can be a good choice for hams
because of their relatively low cost and wide availability, but they
have their problems too, mainly gassiness after years of storage and
poorly designed filament pins (soldered instead of welded, depending
on manufacturer).
