Here's some:

K6EVR had his license suspended for 'superpower'. QST Feb. 1969, p.63

W6VSS suspended for "power in excess of 1 kW" and refusal to allow an inspector into his station. QST Oct. 1965, p. 178

This one is not exactly a ham item, but the FCC seized a 10 kW CB amplifier from a guy in Georgia in 1987:

I remember reading one story in a magazine about the FCC catching high power stations. Maybe it was CQ?

Given that the rule at the time was based on input power to the final stage,
it begs the question of how could they possibly know without being in your
shack? Granted, enforcement then was a far cry from now with station audits
not unusual.

Today it's hard enough to get the FCC to enforce rules against deliberate
interference.

REPLY:

When I was a new ham back in the late 1950's, the FCC issued a number of
citations for excess power and the details were printed in QST. As I
recall, some of the citations were for very small transgressions of the 1kW
limit, some as small as ten to twenty watts or so. It made enough of an
impression that I remember it still.

For what it's worth.
