For a soft start on my LK-500ZB, I got a 2 pole relay, single throw. The
coil
was 12 volts, connected to the 12 volt supply in the box.
2- 10 ohm 10 watt resistors in series with each leg of the primary the
relay shorts the resistors.
At turn on the B+ rises to about 1500 volts then steps to 3 Kv. The
cycle takes about 1 or 1.5 seconds. No more bang from the transformaer
and I sleep better.
All mounted on a small perf board, about $15 complete.
