I once discovered a wet tube failure in a Mobley Buncher system.
This was a 10kW 20 MHz power generator with a regulated plate supply.
The plate supply consisted of a 3CW10000 driven by two 304TL triodes.
It shut down fast and I was called in to fix it. The strange thing was that
the 304TL's had water in them. Apparently while the system was running
a hose sprang a water leak that sprayed the 304TL's just right so that when
they cracked the water was sucked into them. I kept them on a shelf in our
lab on display with other unusual failures until the water inside turned so
murky
that they just looked ugly. The glass never shattered.
