Dick and others,

Go to a hamfest and look for an old RCA Tube Manual.  The first 30 to
50 pages is a complete explanation of how tubes work, complete with
illustrations.  You can usually pick one up for less than 10 bucks.
It doesn't matter if it is a transmitting tube manual or receiving.
For the purposes of your discussion, a tube is a tube  whether it is a
miniature glass job like a 12AX7 or a 4-1000A.
