As long as one has access to CAT data, one could use the microHAM
Station Master (Band Decoder) which has a PA Port that can be
configured to control either Yaesu style (BCD) or Icom Style (CI-V)
amplifiers. See:

the Users Manual:

and application note (specific to Icom):

Same question for the Flex 6xxx series! '

I changed my exciter from FT-5000 to Flex 6300 SDR, but can not make it
amplify. PTT and ALC lines interface fine. The VL-1000 is supposed to
have an RF sample capability to set the band and auto-tuner, but have not
been able to get that working.

To all:
Has anyone developed a simple "plug and play" cable combination, that is
available commercially, so the VL-1000 operates as it does with a Yaesu
exciter.

I don't want to adjust levels or loose any functionality, just plug it in,
turn of the rig and it works.

Icom, Kenwood or Elecraft exciters.
