The only problem with using other relays is the fact that
they will not fit, the t/r relays in the 9500 are mounted
behind the main ctrlr board up against the bulkhead and
there's no room for any other type. If one tries to
mount relays anywhere else, wires would be required
the length of which will cause wattmeter calibration errors
as well as having the full output of the amp radiating who
knows where inside the amp. Not a good idea. There's a
reason they're mounted where they are.
A couple reasons they fail -1 high swr condx welds the
contacts closed, -2 lightning hits can also weld the contacts,
and -3 the op passed 1kw or more through in stby with high swr condx or not.
