Hi Roger,
According to Amphenol...5/8-24, I also measured it myself.
You'll need a 33/64" (.515"), diameter drill for this tap size.

What's the thread size for UHF connectors?  as in PL-259 / SO-239

I want to thread a grounding plate which will save me one fitting and give more 
contact area.
I think (guess) it's 1/2-18, 1/2-20, or there abouts.
