University club stations are no longer hotbeds of ham radio contest
activity. I don't know whether this is because (a) no young people
are going into ham radio anymore, (b) the changing economics of
competitive contesting has made it impossible for University stations
to compete, or (c) the RFI problem has virtually shut these stations
down.
Question for trivia buffs:
(1) When was the last time a University club station placed in the
top ten in single op/all band CQWW, ARRL DX or SS?
(2) What is the highest a University club station has ever finished
in a major contest (e.g., one of the above)?

Hi Randy-
Beats the dickens out of me. Have you asked Tree and/or ICOM? Initially I
found neither program (CT or N6TR) particularly "user friendly." CT is in
such universal use I finally bit the bullet and tried to learn it's basic
stuff, but only after observing it being used by others during Field Day.
I want to become more familiar with N6TR for SPRINTs, and would like to use
it for WAE, but it will take some more study and "learning curve" time.
N6TR's documentation is terse, and I think he assumes a rather detailed
mosaic background of computer knowledge on the part of the user. Too many
explanations are in terse computer code statements without further
embellishment. But you're a computer ace-- how come it won't talk to your
765? I solved most of these problems with my ICOM 751 by getting a Ten Tec
OMNI VI, which
has a built-in RS-232, interface, and ALL of whose functions are able to
be controlled by the computer if the software addresses them. It works
fine with CT, and pretty well with N6TR.
